City of Chillicothe updates its technology for City Hall, police department
18.05.12
The city of Chillicothe is joining the 21st century when it comes to technology, Alderman Chris Boyer told his fellow alderman March 12 at the Chillicothe City Council meeting.
The council approved purchasing eight new computers, five monitors, computer software, a server and a wireless bridge network from Pearl Technology, all to the tune of $26,552. That amount also includes the installation of the equipment and transferring some information.
The city’s last server was purchased in 2000 and has become outdated, according to officials. The wireless bridge network will connect City Hall and the police department in using the same server. Three “retiring” computers will still be used by the city: one for the public works mechanic to keep track of vehicle servicing information, as well as two for the police station.
