$50 bulbs and equity lessness
18.05.11
Behold the wonder of the $50 light bulb, unveiled this week at a trade show and coming to your life, though you didn't ask for it.
The bulb, said the Associated Press , uses LED technology, which scarcely sips power and almost never burns out, to put out as much light as a standard 100-watt incandescent. The complexity of this feat means the bulbs won't be on shelves for at least a year. Still, with innovation, they may sell someday for as little as $10 each.
That's great if you need a really long-lasting, miserly bulb. But at $50 each (or even $10), why would anyone stick them around the house? Simple: Because next year, you won't be able to use 50-cent incandescent 100-watt bulbs. Your government is banning them.
