I was wondering if anyone could help with foreclosure assistance in NY? My friends house is going to be foreclosed on very soon, and she needs help very badly. What should she do? File Chapter 13 Bankruptcy? Let them take her house? Her husband

Doesn't the money in turn go to the bank who holds an over inflated mortgage on the home? If the homeowners could not pay for the home why would they be able to after this assistance? Is there something I missing here?
(In terms of providing
"the money" went to the homeowner already. The bank is only recovering funds.
What the programs are doing is lowering interest rates, which lowers the banks profit, it does not improve it.

TALLAHASSEE (CBS4) – Nearly 9,500 Florida homeowners have submitted applications to receive financial assistance from a federally funded program aimed at helping homeowners avoid foreclosure.
The Florida Housing Corp . began taking applications for its Florida Hardest-Hit Fund a week ago. Applications are being accepted from troubled homeowners in all 67 Florida counties. The federally funded program will provide eligible homeowners with up to six months of cash assistance to make payments on mortgages that would otherwise go unpaid.
