I think you should file for bankruptcy protection, and give the property to the mortgage company. You should consult a bankruptcy attorney.

How do you find out if a house is behind on mortgage payments?
Dec 13, 2010 by crsizemore2002 | Posted in Renting & Real Estate
My soon to be ex and I have a house that he refinanced in his name only. I need to find out if that house is behind on payments ready for foreclosure or has been paid off. The loan is in his name only...the deed is under both our names.
You do not. Due to the privacy laws, the lender will not tell you anything about the status of the loan because you are not on it. Even the garbage company will not tell you if he is making those payment if you are not on the account.

Nate Dogg -- Foreclosed On After Death | TMZ.com
by TMZ Staff
Either the amount is incorrect or that mortgage company is more ruthless than usual. $6,000 in three-four months isn't foreclosure material. If it is indeed $6k that means his mortgage was about $2k a month, which is low for the average celebrity. Maybe he was living the modest life in a normal-sized house, but something just doesn't seem right.
It's a damn shame that a person like Octomom, who became semi-famous for having a litter of kids and contributed absolutely nothing positive to society and hasn't worked in years, is able to stay in her house and have people bail her out of trouble, but a person like Nate Dogg, who from all accounts was a decent guy and started a gospel group after his singing career ended, got foreclosed on over $6,000 two days after his death? Wow.
